[00:00:43]
HELLO EVERYONE.SO I KNOW YOU'RE ANXIOUSLY AWAKE.
I'M A COMMISSIONER AT LARGE HERE IN ESSEX COUNTY.
I STAND BEFORE YOU ALONGSIDE MY COLLEAGUE, COMMISSIONER LUCIANO.
WE'RE HERE THIS AFTERNOON BECAUSE WE'RE VERY EXCITED TO HONOR SOME OF THE FINEST STUDENT ATHLETES FROM ESSEX COUNTY.
THESE YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN HAVE SHOWN THAT WHEN HARD WORK SACRIFICED AND TEAMWORK ARE HARNESSED AND GUIDED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, THE END RESULT OF BEING CHAMPIONS BECOMES AN ATTAINABLE GOAL.
WE ARE RECOGNIZING TWO TEAMS TODAY, AND THEY ARE THE WEST ESSEX HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS FIELD HOCKEY TEAM AND THE JAMES CARDWELL FOOTBALL TEAM.
BEFORE WE WELCOME OUR FIRST HONOREES TO THE PODIUM, COMMISSIONER LUCIANO WILL OFFER HIS GREETINGS ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD.
THANK YOU, COMMISSIONER SEABOLD.
THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY WHO'S HERE TODAY.
UH, THE REASON THIS GOT KICKED OFF A FEW MINUTES LATE IS BECAUSE I WAS LATE.
UM, MY COLLEAGUE, COMMISSIONER SEABOLD, WHO HAILS FROM LIVINGSTON.
UH, CURRENTLY RIGHT NOW I LIVE IN WEST ORANGE.
UH, I GREW UP IN LIVINGSTON AND WEST COLDWELL AND, UH, HAD A LOT OF FRIENDS THROUGHOUT THE COLDWELL WEST ESSEX, LIVINGSTON AREA.
IT'S BEEN A PRIVILEGE AND HONOR FOR ME TO SERVE AS THE COMMISSIONER, FORMALLY KNOWN AS FREEHOLDER FOR 12 YEARS REPRESENTING DISTRICT FOUR, WHICH IS ALL THE WEST AND NORTH ESSEX TOWNS.
I'M ALSO JOINED HERE TODAY AND I WANT TO GIVE THEM SOME RECOGNITION, UM, WITH OUR, MY COMMISSIONER COLLEAGUE FROM IRVINGTON, ROMAINE GRAHAM.
AND, AND OUR COMMISSIONER, PRESIDENT, UH, AND THAT WOULD BE WAYNE RICHARDSON FROM NORTH NEW JERSEY, WAYNE.
SO, SO JUST A LITTLE CIVICS LESSON FOR THE STUDENTS THAT ARE HERE.
UH, THERE'S NINE OF US, RIGHT? NINE COMMISSIONERS, AND WE REPRESENT ALL OF ESSEX COUNTY, WHICH IS MADE UP OF 22 TOWNS, 22 MUNICIPALITIES.
WE HAVE ROUGHLY, UH, I BELIEVE OVER 800, 850,000 PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN ESSEX COUNTY.
UH, ONE OF THE THINGS WE LOVE TO DO AS A GOVERNING BODY, YOU KNOW, OUR, OUR COUNTY EXECUTIVE JOE DIENZO IS LIKE THE MAYOR OF THE COUNTY, AND THE COMMISSIONERS ARE LIKE THE COUNCIL, AND WE HANDLE BUDGET.
YOU KNOW, WE, WE WORK ON ROADS AND BRIDGES.
THERE'S A LOT OF COUNTY PARKS OUT THERE THAT BELONG TO US.
BUT ONE OF THE THINGS THAT REALLY HITS NEAR AND DEAR IS WHEN WE SEE OUTSTANDING STUDENTS IN OUR WEST
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT THE CRAZIEST PART ABOUT THE WHOLE THING IS, IS THAT WE ALSO LOVE TO FOLLOW YOU GUYS.
WE GET ALL THE LOCAL NEWSPAPERS.
SO EVERY WEEK AS YOU GO ON AND GO ON, WE WE'RE ROOTING FOR ALL THE TEAMS IN ESSEX COUNTY TO DO WELL.
AND I JUST THINK IT'S REALLY AMAZING.
ONE OF THE THINGS I ALSO WANT TO SAY WAS, YOU KNOW, WE COULD HAVE DONE THIS SEPARATELY.
YOU KNOW, I COULD HAVE BROUGHT THE COLDWELL CHIEFS IN, YOU KNOW, WE COULD HAVE BROUGHT THE WEST ESSEX KNIGHT IN.
I KNOW THAT YOU GUYS RIV HIGH SCHOOLS AND YOU'RE VERY CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER.
ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WAS REALLY IMPORTANT TO ME WAS THAT WE DID THIS TOGETHER, AND THAT BOTH THE TEAMS AND BOTH THE HIGH SCHOOLS ARE HERE.
AND I HOPE YOU HAVE AN APPRECIATION FOR ONE ANOTHER.
RIGHT? UM, SO, SO AT THIS TIME, YOU KNOW, I'M GONNA TURN THE MICROPHONE BACK OVER TO COMMISSIONER SEABOLD
[00:05:01]
AND WE'RE GONNA MOVE THE PROGRAM ALONG, BUT THANK YOU TO THE STUDENTS, TO THE COACHES THAT ARE HERE, UH, TO YOUR PARENTS THAT WERE DEDICATED, THAT HELPED YOU GET TO THIS LEVEL, AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT'S GONNA BE WATCHING ON TV.OUR FIRST HONOREES, OUR FIRST HONOREES OF THE EVENING ARE THE WEST ESSEX HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS FIELD HOCKEY TEAM.
PLEASE JOIN ME IN WELCOMING HEAD COACH JILL KOS TO THE PODIUM.
THE WEST ESSEX HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS FIELD HOCKEY TEAM HAD A TREMENDOUS SEASON IN 2022.

THEY ALSO WON THE 2022 SUPER ESSEX CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP, THE 2022 ESSEX COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP, AND THE 2022 ESSEX UNION RED DIVISION CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP, AND FINISH NUMBER TWO IN NEW JERSEY AND NUMBER EIGHT IN THE US A WEST ESSEX HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS FIELD HOCKEY TEAM WAS FURTHER RECOGNIZED FOR ITS ACCOMPLISHMENTS BY THE NAMING OF AVI, AVI JOLENE, I HOPE I PRONOUNCED IT RIGHT, ALAH SOPHIA, CISCO, ABBY ANELLI TO THE ALL GROUP FIRST TEAM AND GIANNA MC RENO WAS NAMED ALL GROUP SECOND TEAM.
AND ADELAIDE NELLA AND CECIL MCINERNEY WERE NAMED TO THE ALL GROUP THIRD TEAM.
IF I PRONOUNCE NAMES WRONG, I'M SORRY,
THIS AFTERNOON, WE'RE PROUD TO PRESENT COACH COAST WITH THIS COMMENDATION AND CONGRATULATE THE WEST ESSEX HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS FIELD HOCKEY TEAM ON BEING THE 2022 NORTH GROUP, TWO SECTIONAL CHAMPIONS AND GROUP TWO STATE CHAMPIONS.
SO COACH, IF YOU COULD SAY A FEW WORDS AND PERHAPS YOU CAN HAVE A STUDENT SPEAK ON BEHALF OF YOUR TEAM, I SHOULD MENTION ONE THING.
YOU HAVE AN EXCELLENT PLAYER ON YOUR TEAM WHOSE MOTHER IS A STUDENT OF MINE, GRANDMOTHER, SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION.
I'M A SENIOR CAPTAIN, AND WE JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO ALL THE ESSEX COUNTY FREEHOLDERS FOR, UM, GIVING US THIS OPPORTUNITY TO BE HERE TODAY AND BE HONORED.
I'M A JUNIOR CAPTAIN, AND WE WANTED TO ALSO THANK COMMISSIONER SEA HOLD AND COMMISSIONER LUCIANO FOR BRINGING US ALL TOGETHER TODAY.
HI, I'M SAMANTHA TANGO AND I'M A SENIOR ON THE TEAM, AND WE WANTED TO CONGRATULATE THE FOOTBALL TEAM ON AMAZING SEASON AND THEIR STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
AND ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR HAVING US HERE TODAY AND FOR
[00:10:01]
HONORING US.WE'VE, WE'VE BEEN VERY FORTUNATE, HAVEN'T BEEN HERE BEFORE, SO THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS APPRECIATING WHAT THE KID IN THE COUNTY ARE DOING BECAUSE AS A FOOTBALL TEAM, I'M SURE IT'S NOT JUST A SEASON WHEN YOU PICK UP YOUR, YOUR STICKER, YOUR, YOUR EQUIPMENT IN THIS IT'S YEAR ROUND DEDICATION.
SO THANK YOU FOR ACKNOWLEDGING ALL THE WORK THAT GET YOU TO REPRESENT THEIR SCHOOL, THEIR FAMILIES IN OUR COUNTY WITH PRIDE.
WANT TO GIVE SOME OF THESE OUT TO THE GIRLS LADIES, MAKE SURE EVERYBODY GETS ONE OF THESE.
IF YOU WANT TO GRAB A FEW FROM HER.
WHERE'S, IF YOU WANT ONE OF THE SCHOOLS TO HOLD FLAG IN FRONT.
UM, BEFORE WE TAKE THIS PICTURE REAL QUICK, I JUST WANNA LET EVERYBODY IN THE, IN THE AUDIENCE KNOW THAT WE'RE JOINED BY, UM, OUR CLERK TO THE BOARD, UH, WHO'S A FORMER COMMITTEEWOMAN IN SOUTH ORANGE, DEBORAH DAVIS BOARD.
WE HAVE A FORMER COUNCILWOMAN FROM WEST ORANGE, PATTY SPANO HERE, AND A CURRENT COUNCILWOMAN FROM ROSELAND, EILEEN FISHERMAN SITTING IN THE BACK, WHO'S ALSO FROM WEST ESSEX.
UH, THANK GUYS FOR BEING HERE AND CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GIRLS TEAM.
DID YOU HEAR ME? I WAS LIKE, COME.
IS THAT THE CAMERA? SO AMAZING.
UM, MOVING RIGHT ALONG, BUT BEFORE WE MOVE ALONG, I WILL SAY THIS, RIGHT, EVERYONE'S BEEN FOLLOWING THE COLD CHIEF'S FOOTBALL TEAM, UNDEFEATED IN A COUPLE YEARS.
UNBELIEVABLE COUPLE OF SEASONS, BUT LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING.
THEY'RE NUMBER TWO IN THE STATE AND THE GIRLS ARE NUMBER EIGHT IN THE COUNTRY.
YOU GUYS STILL HAVE YOUR WORK CUT OUT FOR YOU TO, TO, BUT THAT BEING SAID, THAT SEGUE IS TO, UH, TO, TO MYSELF, TO, TO BRING UP, UM, AND, AND I'LL DO THAT IN A SECOND.
UH, WE HAVE OUR JAMES COWELL HIGH SCHOOL CHIEFS, YOU KNOW, FOOTBALL GROUP, TWO STATE CHAMPIONS, UH, LED BY SOMEONE WHO I KNOW FROM BACK IN HIGH SCHOOL THAT I GREW UP WITH, AND THAT'S OUR HEAD COACH OF OUR FOOTBALL TEAM.
AND, YOU KNOW, I HAVE TO SAY THIS ON RECORD.
SO BEFORE CONTINUE WITH MY RESOLUTION, UH, COACH ROMANO CAME TO ME SEVERAL YEARS BACK AND, UH, AS A TEACHER, HE SAID, YOU KNOW, I REALLY WANT TO START A FOOTBALL TEAM IN THE ESSEX COUNTY VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS.
I REALLY THOUGHT WE WERE GONNA BE ABLE TO LIKE MATERIALIZE.
UM, BUT THANKFULLY FOR YOU GUYS, WE DIDN'T BECAUSE HE WOULD'VE BEEN THE COACH OF THE VOCATIONAL SCHOOL, NOT THE COACH OF THE CALDWELL CHIEFS.
AND I THINK HE'S DONE A GREAT JOB.
HE WAS A GREAT PLAYER WHEN HE WAS BACK IN HIGH SCHOOL, AND, UH, HE JUST ALWAYS HAD GREAT VISION.
SO, YOU KNOW, IT WAS OUR LOSS AT THE COUNTY SCHOOLS THAT WE DIDN'T GET HIM OR GRAB HIM AND CREATE A TEAM, BUT HE'S DONE EXCELLENT WORK OUT IN THE POLO.
SO THAT BEING SAID, COACH ROMANO REALLY PROUD AND EXCITED FOR YOU AND YOUR TEAM AND ALL THEY ACCOMPLISHED THIS SEASON.
WE UNDERSTAND WHAT GOES INTO SUCCESSFUL PROGRAM, WHICH IS MADE UP OF MANY LAYERS AND MANY MOVING PARTS.
IT IS TRULY A TEAM EFFORT, INCLUDING THE SUPPORT OF PARENTS AND VOLUNTEERS AS WELL AS FACULTY.
[00:15:01]
SO I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU AND AGAIN, ALL THAT YOU DO IN THE ROLE AS COACH AND KEEPING IT TOGETHER AS AS THE GLUE.AT THIS TIME, I'LL READ A FEW HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE COMMENDATION AND THEN I WILL BRING UP THE TEAM AS WE ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR WINNING SEASON.
SO THE JAMES CALDWELL HIGH SCHOOL CHIEFS FOOTBALL TEAM WON THE 2022 NJS I AA GROUP TWO NEW JERSEY STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING IT DEFEATED RUMSON FAIRHAVEN HIGH SCHOOL, 18 TO 14, WINNING THE FIRST OVERALL NJ S I A A GROUP TWO STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN HISTORY.
THE CHIEFS WILL CARRY THE LONGEST ACTIVE WINNING STREAK IN NEW JERSEY OF 28 GAMES GOING INTO THEIR 2023 SEASON NEXT FALL.
I THINK THAT DESERVES THE 28TH STRAIGHT WIN MEASURE, THE FIRST 13 AND OH SEASON IN SCHOOLERY, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE FIRST OUTRIGHT GROUP TWO STATE CHAMPIONS.
IT ALSO BECOMES A SYMBOLIC END FOR THE SENIOR CLASS, RIGHT? MANY OF THOSE SENIORS WERE PART OF THIS TEAM, UH, FOR ALL FOUR YEARS WHO BUILT THE START OF THE WIND STREAK DURING THE COVID SHORTENED SEASON IN 2020.
LET'S GIVE EVERYONE HERE A ROUND OF APPLAUSE ONE MORE TIME.
LET'S GO A FEW MORE HIGHLIGHTS.
THE FIRST EVER GROUP, TWO STATE CHAMPIONS, NORTH TWO GROUP, TWO STATE CHAMPIONS NORTH, TWO REGIONAL STATE CHAMPIONS.
SUPER FOOTBALL CONFERENCE, AMERICAN GOLD DIVISION, CHAMPS, AND AGAIN, THE ACTIVE 28 GAME WINNING STREAK.
JUST AMAZING FINAL TEAM RANKINGS THIS YEAR IN, IN NEW JERSEY, THE COLDWELL CHIEFS RANKED NUMBER EIGHT, ACCORDING TO THE STAR LEDGER AND NUMBER ONE TEAM IN ALL OF ESSEX COUNTY AND A NUMBER ONE GROUP, TWO TEAM IN THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY.
SO THIS AFTERNOON, I'M PROUD TO TURN OVER THIS MIC RIGHT NOW TO COACH ROMANO, WHO WOULD LIKE TO SAY A FEW WORDS, MAYBE BRING UP A CAPTAIN OR A A COUPLE MEMBERS OF THE TEAM TO SAY A FEW WORDS, AND THEN WE CAN TAKE A PICTURE, COACH, SOMEBODY COME UP ALL.
UM, I'D JUST LIKE TO THANK COMMISSIONER LUCIANO, COMMISSIONER SIBO FOR INVITING US HERE TODAY, RECOGNIZING OUR TEAM.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WEST ESSEX FIELD HOCKEY TEAM FOR DOING WHAT YOU GUYS ALWAYS DO, WHICH IS WIN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS, UH, FOR US.
I MEAN, IT WAS AN AMAZING YEAR.
UH, WE HAD A LONG WINNING STREAK GOING INTO THIS SEASON, AND AS THESE GIRLS KNOW, WHEN YOU'RE ON TOP, UH, IT'S BECOMES REALLY HARD TO KEEP THAT GOING.
SO BEING ABLE TO TOP 12 AND OH YEAR WITH A 13 AND OH, UH, SEASON AND BECOME THE FIRST EVER GROUP TWO STATE CHAMPIONS IS SOMETHING THAT THIS GROUP WILL HAVE FOREVER.
SO I THANK YOU ALL FOR INVITING US AND I'LL TURN IT OVER.
I WAS A SENIOR CAPTAIN THIS YEAR, AND, UM, YOU KNOW, TODD BASICALLY COVERED ALL THE BASES THAT I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT, BUT, UH,
IT'S, UH, PRETTY COOL FOR ALL OF US TO, YOU KNOW, KEEP THIS, UH, SEASON ALIVE.
SO, UM, LIKE HE SAID, CONGRATULATIONS TO WEST ESSEX, UH, FIELD HOCKEY TEAM.
UM, YOU KNOW, LIKE TODD SAID, IT'S NOT EASY.
SO, UM, YOU KNOW, IT'S A BIG, BIG ACCOMPLISHMENTS UP.
I'M GONNA GIVE THIS OVER TO YOU.
WE'RE GONNA BRING UP YOUR TEAM, BUT BEFORE WE BRING UP THE BOYS, UH, FOR ANY SENIORS THAT ARE HERE, IS THERE ANYONE, GIRLS, BOYS, THAT ARE GONNA BE CONTINUING THEIR SPORTS CAREER IN COLLEGE? RAISE YOUR HAND.
IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT'S THAT'S THINKING ABOUT DOING IT? I MEAN, ALEXA'S NOT HERE.
I, I, LISTEN, WE, WE KNOW THE COLLEGIATE LEVEL IS, IS, IS A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL, AND I JUST WANTED TO SAY WHOEVER DOES, YOU KNOW, OR IS DECIDING, OR EVEN IF YOU'RE UNDERCLASSMEN AND YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT IT, WE'RE HERE FOR YOU.
WE'RE ROOTING FOR YOU, AND WE HOPE WHATEVER LEVEL YOU PLAY ON, YOU PLAY ON A CHAMPIONSHIP LEVEL.
SO BOYS, WHY DON'T YOU GUYS COME UP, WE'LL GIVE YOU YOUR RESOLUTIONS.
IF THERE'S ANY, UH, SMALLER GUYS IN THE FRONT, SOME OF THE SMALLER GUYS, UH, YOU KNOW, A
[00:20:01]
COUPLE OF YOU GUYS WANT TO TAKE A KNEE.I KNOW YOU GUYS TO DO THIS, RIGHT? TAKE A THREE MORE.
IN THAT, SO, SO TO THE, TO THE HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES THAT ARE HERE, UH, WE'RE GONNA DISMISS YOU, BUT WE WILL GET YOUR COACHES, THE PICTURES.
AND I, I WILL PROMISE YOU THIS TOO.
KEEP AN EYE ON THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER AND ON ALL THE LOCAL MEDIA THAT'S ONLINE BECAUSE THESE PICTURES IN THE PRESS RELEASE WILL GO OUT THERE SO YOU CAN SHARE WITH YOUR FAMILIES.
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR BEING HERE.
ACTUALLY SHOULD BE UP WORKING HOURS, BUT JEFF, PERFECT.
I'M, I'M GONNA BEGIN, BUT, UH, YEAH, RIGHT.
YOU KNOW, MY, MY HOPES, UH, WAS TO GET, UH, LIEUTENANT PADILLA IN FIRST BEFORE THE STUDENTS.
UH, MY APOLOGY THAT I WAS A LITTLE LATE.
I'M JOINED BY MY COLLEAGUE, AS YOU KNOW, COMMISSIONER SEABOLD, WHO'S GONNA JOIN ME UP HERE.

IN THE YEARS I'VE KNOWN MS. MARQUESHA HAS BEEN AN INSPIRATION TO ALL, WITH HER UNWAVERING DEDICATION TO JAKARTA'S MASTER PLAN, AND MAX'S MISSION OF PREVENTION, EDUCATION, AND PUBLIC AWARENESS.
I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT I'M ONLY IN THE CONVERSATIONS WITH THIS WARD BECAUSE OF THE UNBELIEVABLE TEAM.
OUR COORDINATOR, SAM CARRELL, HAS ASSEMBLED AN HER TIRELESS EFFORTS TO MAKE NUM THE ORGANIZATION THAT CONNECTS ALL THE DOTS IN OUR COMMUNITY.
MY INVOLVEMENT, WHEN MAC GOES BACK TO 2008, WHEN COMMISSIONER PETCO ESTABLISHED HOPE FOR NOTHING AS A NEW COMMISSIONER, ONE OF HIS MAIN OBJECTIVES TO WORK, TO EDUCATE PARENTS ON DRUG AND ALCOHOL ABUSE ISSUES.
BUT WITH THE CONCENTRATED FOCUS ON A GROWING OPIOID ISSUE, WE HOSTED EVENTS THAT BROUGHT A LOT OF ATTENTION AND REAL CONVERSATIONS ABOUT A PROBLEM.
WE KNEW NO FAMILY WAS IMMUNE TO BEING FULLY AWARE.
YOU CAN EXPECT THE KID TO JUST SAY NO WITHOUT TEACHING THEM HOW.
WE WERE ONE OF THE FIRST COMMUNITIES TO JOIN LAW ENFORCEMENT AGAINST DRUGS.
AND IN 2017, LEAD CEO NICK DEMORO AND GOVERNOR CHRIS CHRISTIE AS A PART OF THE STATEWIDE CRUSADE AGAINST OPIOID ADDICTION, VISITED NU TO SEE LEAD IN ACTION LED BY CHIEF STRONE, DEPUTY CHIEF GREEN, AND THEIR COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING WE'RE POSITIONED FOR SUCCESS OPEN TO OFFER OPTIONS
[00:30:01]
OF HELP OVER HANDCUFFS.WE CREATED NOTHING FOR SERVICES, REFERRAL SERVICES CARDS WITH INFORMATION FOR PERFORMED CARE, NU FAMILY SERVICE BUREAU, FOOD PANTRIES, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INFORMATION, MENTAL HEALTH, FAMILY SUPPORT, AND VETERAN SERVICES.
UM, WE HAVE PHONE NUMBERS FOR INFORMATION ON STATE RECOVERY SERVICES, INTERVENTION SERVICES AND RECOVERY COACHES, AS WELL AS TWO 11.
THE OFFICERS I WORK WITH AT THE NUTLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE WE SERVE.
AND FOR THOSE THAT MAY NOT WANT HELP AT THE FIRST POINT OF CONTACT, WE KNOW WE CAN LEAVE THEM WITH A CARD AND A CONVERSATION THAT WE'RE CONFIDENT CAN HELP THEM WHEN THEY'RE READY.
I KNOW THE MAIN FOCUS OF WHAT I'VE HIGHLIGHTED DOESN'T BEGIN TO COVER ALL NUTLEY MUNICIPAL ALLIANCES ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
BUT AS A HU, A NUTLEY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACH FOR 15 YEARS, A POLICE OFFICER OVER 20, WITH MORE THAN 12 OF THAT SPENT AS THE JUNE I SPENT DAYS AND NIGHTS WITH PARENTS AND KIDS THROUGH THE GOOD AND THE BAD.
EVERY KID HAS DREAMS. FOCUS ON THAT.
BUILD TRUST AND THEY'LL BELIEVE YOU'RE REALLY HERE TO HELP THEM.
WHEN THEY DO, THEY'LL TELL YOU WHAT'S GOING ON, AND YOU'LL FIGURE OUT FROM THERE, HEALING ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES OR ACES IS ONE THING, BUT CREATING WAYS TO AVOID THEM ALL TOGETHER.
NOW WE'RE GETTING SOMEWHERE, I WOULD HOPE IF I COULD DRIVE DOWN ROUTE ONE TO PRINCETONIAN DINER AND HAVE A CUP OF COFFEE WITH FORMER AG CAR EDWARDS, FOR WHOM THIS AWARD IS NAMED, THAT WE APPRECIATE ALL THE THINGS THAT WE'VE DONE TOGETHER IN ESSIS COUNTY, AND THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO SUPPORT HIS VISION FOR NEW JERSEY.
I WOULD LIKE TO THANK BY CLOSING, BY THANKING THE RESIDENTS OF NOTHING.
MY TOWNSHIP WILL NOTHINGLY COWORKERS, MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
AND LAST, BUT NEVER LEAST MY WIFE, JEANETTE.
BECAUSE WITHOUT HER THERE WOULD NEVER, THERE COULD NEVER BE A ME.
AND WHILE THE WORLD CONTINUES TO LOOK FOR LEADERS HERE IN ESSIS COUNTY, WE'RE GONNA KEEP MAKING THEM.
ALRIGHTY, LET'S GIVE FROM LIEUTENANT PADILLA.
UM, ANYONE ELSE THAT WOULD LIKE TO SAY A FEW WORDS, PLEASE? WE WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO COME UP YEAH.
AND THEN, LIKE I SAID, THE WHOLE TEAM THAT'S HERE, WE'RE GONNA BRING YOU GUYS UP FOR A PHOTO.
UM, BUT AGAIN, A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT PLEASE, SORRY, I'M NOT, NO PRESSURE, NO PRESSURE SPEAKING.
UM, I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE ESSEX COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AND, UM, ESSEX COUNTY, UH, COUNTY EXECUTIVE FOR, UM, RECOGNIZING DETECTIVE PADILLA ON HIS AWARD.
ON BEHALF OF THE DIVISION OF COMMUNITY HEALTH AND, UM, THE ESSEX COUNTY ALLIANCE, I WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE DETECTIVE LIEUTENANT MIKE PADILLA PADILLA ON RECEIVING THE 2022, UH, W EDWARDS STATEWIDE, UH, VOLUNTEER AT THE YEAR AWARD FROM THE GOVERNOR'S COUNCIL ON DRUG AND ALCOHOL DETE.
DETECTIVE LIEUTENANT PADILLA HAS BEEN A VITAL PART OF THE NOTLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT, AS WELL AS A MEMBER OF THE MUNICIPAL ALLIANCE, UH, FOR YEARS.
UM, HE ALSO HAS BECOME ONE OF THE LEADING LEAD OFFICERS WHO HAS BEEN TRAINING 30.
HE HAS, HE'S ONE OF THE, HE'S ONE OF THE 30 LEAD TRAINERS WHO ASSISTED THE MUNICIPAL ALLIANCES IN, UM, NEW JERSEY.
HE ALSO RECEIVED AN AWARD IN 2027 FOR THAT.
UM, WE ARE PROUD OF HIM AND WE ACKNOWLEDGE ALL THE HARD WORK THAT HE DOES IN THE DRUG AND ALCOHOL PREVENTION AREA.
SO IN IT'S WELL DESERVED, CONGRATULATIONS AND CONTINUE THE AMAZING WORK THAT YOU HAVE DONE AND WILL BE DOING IN THE COMMUNITY.

AND, UH, AGAIN, WE HOPE TO HAVE YOU BACK HERE.
WE KNOW YOU'RE GONNA DO GREAT THINGS.
YOU HOLD THIS SCREAM THE WHOLE GAME.

SMALLER PEOPLE ON THE FRONT, LIKE WE TOLD THE KIDS.
NO OFFENSE, NO KNEELING, BUT WE WILL.
EVERYBODY'S SO, UH, HAPPY FOR EVERYTHING THAT YOU'VE, UH, THAT YOU'VE ACCOMPLISHED.
